End of the Year is Here!

Summer is here! School ended on Tuesday, I officially "checked-out" of my school, and now it's time to go on vacation... THEN, plan for next year!

This year was quite an experience for my students and I. My school had to go through some emergency construction during spring break, so I had to move into another school building for the remainder of the school year. I am now in my 3rd classroom of the school year. Luckily, my new classroom is bigger, brighter, has fresh paint, and new windows! I am one happy teacher!

End of the Year Gifts

Every year, I give my kiddos a simple gift to remember the year by. This year, I found some cheap, cheap, cheap sunglasses from Walmart. They were 6 for $1... score! I also bought some Kool-aid packets on sale. I taped the Kool-aid packets to the sunglasses with a cute little printable from the blog Just Another Day in Paradise. You can find this cute printable here.

Here's how they turned out...

I couldn't stop there!  In addition to a small gift, I also create a personal memory book for the kids. The memory book has a cute picture of each student and a paragraph with their school year memories. I LOVED seeing their faces when they walked in the room and saw their gift and memory books. We also had to get each other's autographs!

Here's a look at what the students saw on their desks when they walked in our classroom on the last day of school...

You can find the template I used for the student paragraph here in my TPT store. I had my students respond to each question, then I typed up their responses to put in their memory book. Easy Peasy!

What traditions do you have for the end of the year??

About Me!

I'm so excited to start blogging! This has been a dream of mine for a while and I am excited to start this new journey and share my classroom happenings while also learning what other amazing teachers are doing in their classrooms!

My mom, little sister {she'll always be little to me}, and myself

A little about me...
My name is Elizabeth and I am entering my fifth year of teaching! I look back and can't believe I've taught four full school years... where did the time go?!?! I've taught 3rd grade for two years, a 1st and 2nd grade blend, and a 2nd and 3rd grade blend. This year I will just be teaching 2nd grade and I couldn't be more thrilled! I thought I wanted to be an upper elementary teacher, but am LOVING the primary world!

I was the little girl who knew she wanted to be a teacher when I was, like, 4. I'm sure many other teachers know what I'm talking about! For Christmas I asked for school supplies, my preferred choice of a play time activity was 'pretend school' with a class full of fuzzy stuffed animals, I would spend my allowance on teaching posters (I had a long division poster hanging in my room... who does that!?!), and I forced my poor dear little sister to be my "live" pupil as often as she would let me. I must confess, I'm a total teacher nerd!

In third grade {I grew that pumpkin and begged my mom to let me take it to school}
 I started teaching at a small private school in Portland, Oregon. I spent three amazing years at that school! The kids were amazingly bright, cheery, and just plain sweet! Something was missing... I needed a new challenge and new place to explore. Life and God lead me to that challenge. Last school year, I received a call to teach on the Pacific Coast. I couldn't turn it down! I love the beach, and NOW, I get to live literally seconds from the beach (hence the name of my blog).

When I'm not being a teacher nerd, I like to go for long walks on the beach (ha ha), sing, visit my family, spend time getting in trouble hanging out with my friends, CRAFTING, and most importantly... loving my furry child, Lilo. Lilo is a {crazy hyper} Yorkie Chihuahua mix; a Chorkie to be exact!

Thank you for visiting my blog!
