AMPLIFY Your Students' Digital Learning!

Fortunately, Amplify, by Katie Muhtaris and Kristin Ziemke has turned into my favorite teaching partner, transforming my instruction and becoming my go-to technology instruction manual.

Book Selfies: A Modern Tech Twist on Book Reports

I love teaching technology, but truly miss teaching reading skills. There's something so magical about books! Even the most reluctant readers have a book that they enjoy listening to, or reading themselves. 
In the midst of Read Across America, I wanted to include my students' favorite books in a technology project. Thus, the book selfie project was born!

10 Reasons to Love Chromebooks in the Elementary Classroom!



When I was told our school's desktop computer lab would convert to a Chromebook lab, I had a teacher freak-out moment... What!? Chromebooks!  You mean my technology classroom won't be able to use Microsoft programs?? You mean we won't be using iPad tablets???  But, but, but...

Six months later, I'm loving them for many, many reasons. And, my kids love them too! So much in fact, that I've had kiddo after kiddo tell me they have received a Chromebook for their birthday or for Christmas.

Techie Advice From a Tech Teacher

If you were to tell me a year ago that next school year I would become a technology teacher, my jaw would just about drop to the floor. Do I love technology… yes. Do I use technology often… yes. Do I blog, communicate, and collaborate with others using technology… yes. Am I a technology expert… NO!


Desks have now turned into large tables that hold tangled wires. Pencils are now keys on a keyboard. Papers that once took me so long to copy are now in "the cloud." My classroom has been flipped, and my teaching identity right along with it.
