AMPLIFY Your Students' Digital Learning!

It is easy to feel like you're on an island when you are the only technology instructor in your school. Your teaching team becomes internet tutorials, blogs, forums, and books. Fortunately, Amplify, by Katie Muhtaris and Kristin Ziemke has turned into my favorite teaching partner, transforming my instruction and becoming my go-to technology instruction manual.

The authors lay-out an easy to follow plan to seamlessly integrate technology into your classroom. The easy to read format includes tips, tricks, lesson samples, anchor charts, and classroom pictures. This book will help you re-evaluate the role of digital learning in the classroom, and give you the confidence you need to empower your students with technology devices. Katie and Kristin remind teachers that like any other content area, integrating technology takes time, but with well-planned routines, even your youngest learners will become fluent in technology innovation

This winter, I was fortunate enough to meet Kristin Ziemke (I actually got to chat it up with one of my teacher idols... what!?) and watch her present. Kristin is articulate, innovative, and inspiring. As a first grade teacher, Kristin integrates technology in every content area. Her students are fluent technology users, recording videos, chatting on Twitter, creating digital projects, independently using applications... and the list goes on! I came back to my tech classroom with an arsenal of new ideas I could implement right away.

Technology integration can be scary... it can feel like traveling to a foreign country where no one speaks your language. It is constantly changing; as soon as you master one tool, it suddenly becomes outdated. With Amplify in your back pocket, no matter what technology device, application, or e-learning tool comes your way, you'll be able to set the stage for student digital success.

If I haven't convinced you of the awesomeness (yes, I know that's a made-up word, but it fits!) of this book, you can download the a sample chapter HERE and check it our for yourself!
